Yesteryear Regatta Report

With a great line up of wooden yachts racing the San Diego Bay, the Yesteryear Regatta proved to be a challenging and rewarding event with over 30 boats racing in 7 classes.

MARTHA sailed against some very impressive competition including,  CHIMAERA, an S&S sloop,  CIRCE, an S&S yawl, MARJORIE a Stephens/Waring and White design,  built by Brooklin Boat Yard, a beautiful spirit of tradition ketch,  Burgess 10 Meters SALLY and BRANTA and 6 Meter SPRIG.

The wind blew a 8 to 10 knot westerly with occasional 12 to 15 knot puffs, the course was a windward start, a long fetch turning to a reach out to bouys 5 and 6, a close reach  giving way to a deep reach spinnaker run to the leeward mark and a short beat to the finish line.

The crew did a great job of keeping MARTHA in trim and providing local knowledge and tactical info.

In the end MARTHA placed 1st in her class and took 5th over all just minutes behind the fast A class boats listed above.

Special thanks to Greg Stewart and the San Diego Yacht Club for putting on a great event.

Bay Shots has some photos of the race up of their website check them out!
