10 days of unsettled weather gives way to 3 days perfect for painting.
 Thursday hull prep lead to a Friday finish hull coat and cockpit varnish.

Saturday dawns cool and sunny with expected temps in the mid 50′s and a light breeze.
  We will coat the cabin sides and re-coat the cockpit, and of course the furniture in the shop is coming up quite well.

 With Chris grace, Bob Triggs, Holly Kays and Mary d’Arcy all helping to lift we should be able to make good use of this weather window and be ready to launch by the end of the week.
Tacoma here we come.

Martha was hauled out on Tuesday morning March 30 and her bottom was washed off by 10:00.
Everything looks great,  her bottom is clean and fair and if not for some fender scuffing she looked ready for this season’s sailing adventures.Wednesday we were able to sand the entire topside and bulwark and prepared for paint – but by Thursday early afternoon our plans were dashed by rain and wind. Friday brought heavy wind 35 to 40 with higher gusts with rain, which will put a damper on painting. We will see what the weekend brings.

Another haul out season is now upon us and Martha will be coming out of the water beginning on March 30th in the Port of Port Townsend. Martha’s hull is in great shape so this will be a basic “hair cut and a shave.” We want to extend thanks for the ongoing support from Pettit Paint, who has donated to Martha’s cause for many years. Topsides are “easy-poxy” off-white and the bottom paint is “Trinidad SR” green. We have been extremely pleased with all of our Pettit products. Thank you to Tim Fagan, Pettit Paint, as well as Stacey Hoopes at Fisheries Supply of Seattle.

From December to May of 2007, Martha’s crew of shipwrights and volunteers accomplished an amazing feat of re-planking and re-framing the entire hull from the water line down. Please read some of the postings and see photos on the Woodenboat Magazine site woodenboat forum.
