San Francisco Bay

Where it all began.

The crew from the Schooner Martha Foundation has been working for 19 years to get to the point where MARTHA was ready to return to this event.    All of the volunteer work and support from the community is paying off and MARTHA is here!

In 1996 when the seeds for MARTHA’s resurrection were planted, the goal was to have her ready for a return to her birth place “San Francisco” to race the MasterMariners Regatta.

Well almost 20 years later not only will MARTHA compete in the Master Mariners but has also participated  in a full year of classic yachting events that will culminate in a participation in Transpac .

All of these wonderful things would not have been possible with out the support from so many of our community and the technical and philosophical support of the Port Townsend Marine Trades and the Port of Port Townsend.

It is a great achievement, not only to have restored MARTHA to her racing health but to have insured that she and her mission of Maritime Cultural Education continues into the future as we hand the torch to the next generation.
