8 Days till Departure for San Francisco

Giving Ryder A Fresh Coat of Paint
Giving Ryder A Fresh Coat of Paint

The crew has been busy working around the clock to get the boat ready for departure in a week! As of yesterday, the water maker and High Frequency Radio are both installed and working beautifully. Ryder, the small boat, has received some good TLC from sand paper and brushes, as well as her oars. Martha herself has been getting some varnishing love as we attack the wounds and get them built up again to withstand all the sun we are going to be getting! The new forestaysail and jib have been bent on and were taken out for a test sail this past weekend. With a little tweaking on the jib, they are both flying beautifully now. Things seem to be flowing along smoothly as we enter our final week here in Port Townsend. Stay tuned for more updates as we get ready to embark on our year-long journey.

Here is a great article from the PT Leader about Martha’s upcoming year.

Two of the crew, Rosie and Meryl, will be writing their own blogs during the Offshore Year. Be sure to follow their stories!
